Following the recent impacts of heavy rainfall in Western QLD and ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, we want to ensure that all of those affected are aware of the small business disaster recovery grants available in eligible government areas.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred Small Business Grants
Disaster recovery grants are now available to small and family businesses in 16 local government areas that were impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

These grants will fund up to $25,000 for clean-up and return to operation costs, including:

  • Debris removal
  • Replacing damaged equipment
  • Building repairs
  • Safety inspections
  • Restocking and replanting

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to rural landholders or lessees of at least 10 hectares who sustained direct damage but are not eligible for other Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) primary producer assistance.

Eligible small and family businesses, non-profit organisations and primary producers can also apply for:

  • Disaster Assistance Loans – Up to $250,000 to support essential recovery efforts
  • Essential Working Capital Loans – Up to $100,000 to assist with immediate operational costs, including wages, rent, and creditor payments

This support is available in the following local government areas:

  • Brisbane City Council
  • Bundaberg Regional Council
  • Fraser Coast Regional Council
  • Gold Coast City Council
  • Gympie Regional Council
  • Ipswich City Council
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Logan City Council
  • Moreton Bay City Council
  • Noosa Shire Council
  • Redland City Council
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council
  • Southern Downs Regional Council
  • Sunshine Coast Regional Council
  • Toowoomba Regional Council

Western Queensland Rainfall and Flooding
Loans now available for disaster-affected businesses

Financial assistance is available for small and family businesses impacted by flooding in Western Queensland.

Disaster Assistance Loans and Essential Working Capital Loans have been activated for businesses in Barcoo, Boulia, Bulloo, Diamantina, Longreach, Murweh, Paroo, Quilpie, and Winton local government areas.

These loans are designed to support small businesses to re-establish operations relating to:

  • Repairing or replacing damaged plant and equipment
  • Repairing or replacing buildings
  • Restocking inventory to resume operations

Eligible small and family businesses, non-profit organisations and primary producers can also apply for:

  • Disaster Assistance Loans – Up to $250,000 to support essential recovery efforts.
  • Essential Working Capital Loans – Up to $100,000 to assist with immediate operational costs, including wages, rent, and creditor payments.

Other Support

Small and family businesses and other organisations impacted by recent disasters can access relevant assistance provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) on the DRFA website.

Other support services for impacted businesses include:

  • Free business mentoring for recovery and business support
  • Free one-on-one small business wellness coaches to help with your recovery
  • Free small business financial counselling for businesses experiencing, or at risk of, financial hardship
  • Advice on making an insurance claim after a natural disaster
  • Temporary outreach centres with business experts.
